Report on Chequered Skipper Surveys 2009
Chequered Skipper was one of four UK BAP species for which surveys were organised by the branch committee in 2009. Full details of where in Scotland Chequered Skipper occurs and the date of last record can be found on the Chequered Skipper Survey pages.
A branch event, the Chequered Skipper weekend, was held at Glasdrum NNR on 30 & 31 May 2009 to show what Chequered Skipper habitat looks like and to encourage further recording by branch members. In total, 13 people attended the Chequered Skipper weekend event at Glasdrum on Saturday 30 May and a great day out in fantastic scenery and weather was had by all. On Sunday 31 May, several branch members headed off to other historical Chequered Skipper sites in the SW Scotland branch area and the Highland branch area. The map below (click for bigger image) shows the sites where Chequered Skipper was found in 2009:
