Double Square-spot

Postby AlistairMurdoch » Mon Jul 06, 2015 10:22 am

Hi Everybody,

should Double Square-spot and Triple-spotted Clay be recorded as Xestia Sp.? Last year I confidently ID'D Double square-spot, now I am thinking of Triple-spotted Clay for some individuals. Any local opinions on these two?

Alistair.

Hi Alistair,

I think that TSC is even less common than records would suggest - I'm sure that there are quite a few spurious records in the recoding scheme. I've had the odd TSC at Ardeer, but DSS is far more common.

A good link is: http://trappingsofsuccess.blogspot.co.u ... otted.html I often find myself looking at hind wings if I have a candidate TSC.
