Hi Ron,

Very interesting. It’s creating an urge in me to investigate leaf miners myself. I must say, stunning macro photos. I’d never have thought that dead leaf macros could be as attractive as moth macros, but I was wrong!

My mothing year will most likely start around Feb 22nd, when I'm back in Ayrshire for an event that involves moth trapping. I'll of course post details if I have any luck (I've still to add February moths such as Dotted Border, Spring Usher, Pale Brindled Beauty, Early Moth and March Moth to the Ardeer Quarry LNR list).

Hi Ron,

Congratulations on your continuing success with leaf miners. Your moth is an Apple Leaf Miner - a very attractive moth, as you say. Moths this small are certainly very tricky things to get photos of!

Ron and Iain,
Looking at S&P over a knee dinner I agree with Iain, sometimes it helps to look further than just wing markings...the very long antennae rather narrow the search.

Nick.
