Hi Ron,

Perhaps your macro from Sunday 7th is a Rustic Shoulder-knot? And maybe your latest pug is a Narrow-winged Pug. The illustration in Townsend and Waring is a bit confusing as it depicts the species in a different resting posture.

Glad to see that your garden list is increasing - and a great shot of the Garden Tiger.

Hi Ron,

congratulations on Red-necked Footman - surely a bit unusual in a garden setting. I haven't trapped any but have seen a few in moorland/forestry land near Sorn. As for your problem ID, I wonder is it so pale because it is worn out - or still quite fresh?

Alistair.

Hi Ron,

I am still stumped with your un ID'd moth. These seems a faint trace of a pattern which Small Dotted Buff does not appear to have. Nick and Iain will have to have a shot at it.

Alistair.
