I also saw my first Painted Lady of the year today (05/06/16) on an old grassy bing near Bow Hill, Rankinston, Ayrshire (Grid Reference NS4412), other butterflies seen in the surrounding area were 60+ Green-veined Whites, 3 Orange Tips, 10+ Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries and 35+ Dmall Heaths.

I had 3 Painted Lady butterflies during an hour and a half spent at a disused sand quarry east of Darvel. Another Painted Lady flew past at nearby Allanton Plains. Also a Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary there (NS 619 368).

I have seen a few Painted Ladies every day this week at various locations near Littlemill Bing, Rankinston, Ayrshire {NS4414), today I saw the highest number yet (10) plus a single butterfly in a garden in Rankinston.
