Atlas of the Butterflies of South West Scotland - an update

At the AGM held in 2004 the Committee of the Glasgow & South West Scotland branch announced that it was going to produce an Atlas of the Butterflies found in South West Scotland.

Although the branch committee has not been able to produce a newsletter for some time it has been busy with the production of the Atlas. A publisher has been found, much of the text has been written and meetings have been held to select images for the book. Fund raising to fund the publication has also occurred. The branch has been successful in obtaining £5000 from the Lottery Awards for All, £750 from the Professor Lloyd Binns Bequest Fund, £250 from the Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cashback scheme and a pledge of £3000 from Scottish Natural Heritage. It is hoped that the book will be published by June 2006. Further updates will be given on the web site in late January 2006.
